As it comes close to the fall season where the next generation iPhone will be released, rumors are running high. But there has been one thing that has really irked me is that everyone is calling it the iPhone 5, but technically the iPhone 4S was the 5th generation iPhone. So the new iPhone will be the iPhone 6 not the iPhone 5. So companies such as Wired and CNET need to change there rumor posts.

With WWDC right around the corner rumors are running high with news about new iMacs, MacBook Airs, and more. 
Here’s what I think we can hope to see at WWDC:
1. With Intel’s new Ivy-bridge processors out, and Apple’s whole computer line-up awaiting an update we can will definitely predict that Apple’s new machines will definitely carry the Ivy-Bridge Chips.
2. USB 3.0 is becoming more and more popular, and rumors from 9to5mac show that USB 3.0 will replace USB 2.0 in all future Macs
3. More RAM: Currently the most RAM an Apple Macbook can hold is 8 GB, but rumors are showing MacBook Pro models with up to 16 Gigs of RAM. Now that would be one monster laptop.
4. Apple’s top-of-the line Mac, the Mac Pro, has not been updated for 2 years. And sources are showing a scarcity in Mac Pro’s at Apple Stores. Professional workers would love to see a new Mac Pro, so hopefully we will see an update next week.
5. 15-inch MacBook Air. For a couple of months there have been rumors that Apple is adding another model to their MacBook Air line. So we can assume that it will be the 15-inch. But we don’t know weather their is enough technology to create a 17-in MacBook Air
6. Retina Display Macs: Display technology has become more and more advanced. And some images found in the source code of Mountain Lion show images with a large number of pixels that would only fit on a Retina Display.
6. iOS 6: Pictures below show that Apple will be showing iOS 6 off and most probably release developer versions. Some features we might see in iOS 6 are Facebook sharing integrated into Apps, Siri for the iPad, Apple’s new Maps app, and iCloud improvements.
7. Mountain Lion: Versions of Mountain Lion have already been seeded out to Developers so we can probably hope to see Apple release Mountain Lion to the public at WWDC.
8. Apple TV SDK: Sales of the Apple TV has been steadily increasing and at AllThing’s D’s D12 conference Tim Cook stated that the Apple TV had become something Apple would pay more attention to. So we might see Apple release an Apple TV SDK, so the Apple TV can become a more attractive offer to people.
All of this seems like too much to be releases at one WWDC keynote, but these are just predictions that may or may not come true.

Recently a Tojan Horse Virus has affected a large number of Macs. A trojan horse is a certain type of virus that works essentially like the original Trojan Horse. The way that this specific virus gets into your computer is by exploiting a certain bug in the Java runtime software.
F-Secure has instructions to identify whether or not you have the Trojan virus and if you do have it, how to remove it. Or you can use Free Flashback Checker Juan Leon. If you do not have the virus immediately update your software so the patch for the Java bug can be fixed. There are rumors that Apple is currently working on a tool to detect and remove the Flashback malware. So hopefully this virus will become history soon.

On Wednesday Aug, 24th there was an announcement that released shockwaves around the world. Steve Jobs had resigned as Apple CEO. Then new CEO will be Tim Cook, the previous Chief Operations Officer. Most of the world (including Steve Jobs) know that this man is capable of running Apple. Whenever Jobs was on sick leave Cook would take over at the helm, and he was good at it never letting the company down. Otherwise, Steve Jobs has been voted to become the Chairman of the Board, so he completely hasn’t left Apple.
Steve Jobs has been an amazing person (duhh). He created Apple. He got kicked out. Created NeXT. Bought Pixar and made it successful. And at the end came back to Apple and brought it from it’s death to what we know today. The iMac, iPod, iPhone, and the iPad all of Job’s greatest wonders.
Steve Jobs sent out an E-Mail to all Apple Employees. He explains his resignation, his successor, and his encouragement for the future of the company. It also states that he would like to serve as an Apple Employee.
I wish Tim Cook an amazing career ahead of him as CEO and great years ahead for Apple as a whole. I also wish Steve Jobs a great life ahead of him.

Apple has released a lower end iMac for $999, buy only for education.. It’s 21.5-in. and has lower specs than the lowest-end iMac. It’s like a merger of the last and current gen iMac. Specs Include:
- 3.1GHz Intel Core i3
- 2GB RAM, Upgradeable to 4 or 8
- 250GB Hard Drive at 7200 RPM
- AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 256MB of dedicated GPU Memory
- Mini Display Port without Thunderbolt
These specs are plenty enough for the average school student. And at this low price it makes for an amazing deal for schools. I hope my High School buys these to replace our really old Macs’s and PC’s.
By doing this Apple has shown how much they feel about Education. Also how, in this era, Technology is an important part of a student’s education.

Every Mac made by Apple includes a stunning display, all except the Mac mini and Mac Pro. If you want to buy a display for those Mac’s or you want an external display for the other Mac’s, you have two options:
- Drop 1 Grand for Apple’s Thunderbolt Display
- Buy any display from any company at any price
But when you have an Apple Mac, won’t it be great to have it all in sync and also have an Apple Display. Yeah that would be great. But there are couple of problems.
First: The Thunderbolt Display is a stunning at 27″. But for some people that’s HUGE. Way to big. They either don’t need that much space or they don’t have room on their Desk.
Second: The Thunderbolt Display costs 1 Grand! you could buy a MacBook Air for that. The really high price point could drive people away from buying the Display. Hey Apple, people might be willing to pay a Grand for a Mac, but not for a Display.
Third: Apple makes a 21.5″ and 27″ iMac. The Thunderbolt Display is also 27″ so it’s a perfect match for the 27″ iMac. What about the 21.5″ iMac. If people want to buy a Display they have to get the 27″ display that would dwarf the smaller iMac.
These were some reasons that would stop people from buying this display. But I do believe there is a solution. Apple should make a smaller 21.5″ Display at around $699. It would be perfect! Great Price, Great Size, and a Great Companion for the 21.5″ iMac. If Apple made this imaginary Display I bet it would sell a lot better than the 27″. Tell me what you guys think in the comments.

If you have upgraded to Lion? Then you might have noticed that in the Mac App Store Xcode is now Free, instead of the original $4.99. Before only paid developers could get the newest version of Xcode. Otherwise if the public wants to use Apple’s Developer Tools they can only get the previous version of the tools. But now it’s free. Because of the 100% Price Drop, it has become #1 on the Top Free List (as of July 24th).
When you download Xcode from the Mac App Store, it all so includes the iOS SDK‘s, Mac SDK’s and other Dev Tool like Interface Builder and Instruments. So you get everything you need to build and iOS or Mac App, except you need to pay to submit it in to the App Store. However you will not be able to get certain things like iOS Beta’s, OS X Gold-Masters, Xcode Beta’s, etc. Those are still reserved for Paid Developers.
Xcode and the rest of the tools are great for programming, even for beginners. I am learning the Programming Language Objective – C and I only use Xcode. So for any of you who are interested in writing an App for any of Apple Platforms I advise you to download to Xcode. But beware it’s a huge download like Lion, so it will take a long time.

In just one day Apple’s new Mac Operating System, Lion, has been downloaded over Million Times! That’s over $30,000,000 in revenue. This pretty much shows how much of a success Lion is for Apple. It has been the Top Paid Download in since yesterday morning, and I think it will stay there for at least another week.
Even the ratings and reviews show how much customers are loving Lion. The average rating is just under 5 stars. These ratings are for July 22.
The thing that I think that is really pushing sales is the Price. I mean at on only $30 most people wouldn’t think twice about buying it. But I think there is a also one thing that is stopping it from becoming even more successful. It’s only available through the Mac App Store. If there was an option that people could buy a DVD online or at the Apple Store, sales could’ve been higher. Buy anyway this is still a great feat for Apple.
If you are still on Snow Leopard and haven’t downloaded Lion yet, I recommend you download immediately. It’s an investment you won’t regret.

July 20th was a big day for Apple. They had 3 Major Hardware releases, 1 Software release, and one discontinuation.
Through the Mac App Store Apple released their next version of Mac OS X – Lion. It was around a 4GB File download. Over Wi-Fi on my laptop it took around 6 Hours to download. From 6 in the morning till Noon. After that it took around 30 Minutes to fully install. If certain people’s Internet connection is too slow to download Lion or they have a Bandwidth Cap, Apple is allowing users to bring their computer to an Apple Retail Store and download Lion from the Apple Store’s internet connection; for no extra Cost. For people who don’t have both if these options Apple is will sell a USB Flash Drive in August for $69, that’s a $40 Price Hike. Unless you’re willing to pay extra, really try and find a place to download Lion. Here is a link to the Press Release.
Apple updated their MacBook Airs to include Intel’s Ultra Low Voltage Core i5 and i7 Processors. They also put in Thunderbolt and brought back the old Backlit Keyboard. With their new CPU’s the MBA’s are almost 2.5 Times faster than the last-gen MacBook Airs. But everything else about the MacBook Air is the same; the price, Flash Storage, and RAM.
Apple also revised their entry-level Mac, the Mac Mini. The size is still the same but their are new CPU’s (Core i5 and i7) and new discrete GPU’s. You can add up to 8GB of RAM, SSD’s, and Faster Hard Drives. The new Mac Mini also includes Thunderbolt connectivity. Apple took out the SuperDrive from the Mac Mini. But you can buy a the MacBook Air Super Drive ($70) if you need to use DVD’s and CD’s. And Apple lowered the entry price to $599.
Lastly they introduced the Thunderbolt Display. It’s pretty much the same 27-in. Cinema Display Apple used to have except now it includes a FaceTime HD Camera and on the Back it has a Gigabit Ethernet Port, FireWire 800, 3 USB Ports, and an Extra Thunderbolt port. It still cost’s $999.
Now we come the the Unfortunate news. Do you remember that White polycarbonate MacBook that started at $999? Well Apple has discontinued that Product. So now the cheapest Apple Laptop you can buy is the 11-in MacBook Air. The MacBook used to be the most popular Mac before the 13-in MacBook Pro was released. But it was soon forgotten. May the MacBook Rest in Peace. Apple did say they will continue making the MacBook for education services.

Apple has updated two of their six Macs to include Thunderbolt Connectivity. But there weren’t any cables or devices to use Thunderbolt with. So Today Apple has release a Thunderbolt Cable for $49 on their Website. Using the Thunderbolt Cable you can use the new 2011 iMac as an external Display with a 2011 MacBook Pro.
Along with the Thunderbolt Cable they are selling 4 RAID systems form Promise Pegasus. RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent Disks, which is a fast and secure system to store information by distributing data between different Disk Drives. There are 4 choices to choose from; a 4x1TB for $999, 4x2TB for $1499, 6x1TB for $1499, & 6x2TB for $1999. Starting at 1 Grand and going all the way to 2 Grand these RAID Systems are pretty expensive and cost almost as much as the iMac and MacBook Pro.
